About

Esoterance aims to restore the balance of Nature in your body by combining herbs, oils, clays, plant butters and other ingredients that have wonderful properties of moisturising, healing, regeneration and restoration. Doing this while also being sustainable, ethical, vegan, non-animal tested, environmentally friendly, plastic-free and palm-oil free.

Many ingredients found in commercial skincare products, are harmful not only to our skin, but long term use of them is also harmful to our organs, neurons and even our DNA. Most commercial skincare products contain harmful ingredients. Some ingredients have a sensitizing effect on our skin which creates inflammation that leads to worsening of the skin over time. While some other products contain ingredients such as silicones and surfactants which creates the feeling of smooth skin, but in reality all it is doing is covering your skin with a layer that not only traps bacteria under it, but also disrupts the skin’s natural functions.

Esoterance is passionate about creating products which are completely non-inflammatory, non-harmful in any way and without disrupting the skin’s natural functions. Especially perfect for those with sensitive skin. Quality is very important to us, and as such the ingredients used are of the highest standard and quality. A lot of research goes into these products in regards to what works best and how to maximise the benefits of the ingredients, continuously working on improving forumulas as well as creating new ones.

Esoterance guarantees that our products are completely free of toxins and carcinogens. No parabens, no phthalates, no sulphates, no synthetic fragrances or colours, no dioxin, no triciosan, no diethanolamine, monoethanolamine, or triethanomlamine.

100% Australian, hand-made, evidence-based formulas.

Plastic Free

Esoterance not only cares about you, but also our environment. Plastic pollution has become a huge problem worldwide, and while some types of plastic are recyclable, the reality of it is that a whopping 91% of plastic does not get recycled, even for types of plastic that have a higher rate of recycling such as PET and HDPE still only have a recycling rate of 28%.

More so, even plastics that can be and do get recycled, unfortunately eventually break down into micro-plastics, which is becoming a disaster not just for the environment but also ourselves. In fact, micro-plastics have now even been found in human placentas.

Research into micro-plastics in birds has found that it gets absorbed through their stomach lining and dirupts their digestion, and this is only the beginning as due to lack of research, we do not yet know or fully understand the impact of microplastics.

Therefore, Esoterance is completely plastic free with everything from packaging, to transport.

Why metal packaging?

Tinplate and aluminium cosmetic jars were chosen due to them being the most sustainable cosmetic packaging around. Being a metal they are not only infinitely recyclable, with one of the lowest carbon footprints to recycle, they also have the highest rate of recycling at 90.4%, compared to glass which has a recycling rate of 48% in Australia.

Being lighter and less fragile means they have the lowest carbon footprint compared to other packaging when it comes to transport weight and also require less transport packaging material to protect them.

Are they safe?

Research has shown that metal cosmetic packaging, including aluminium is safe and non-toxic as it does not leech. When Aluminium is exposed to air, it forms a layer of Aluminium Oxide which protects the aluminium from further reaction, and therefore does not react or leech into the contents of the jar. The jars are also coated with a protective layer of resin.

Palm Oil Free

Commercial us of palm oil has been and continues to be a major driver of deforestation of some of the most biodiverse forests in the world. It is the leading cause of habitat loss of the already endangered species like the Orangutan, pygmy elephant and Sumatran rhino, further putting them at risk of extinction. This forest loss through burning coupled with conversion of carbon rich peat soils are throwing out millions of tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and further contributing to climate change. The palm oil industry also has significant issues with exploitation of workers and child labour.

What about RSPO sustainable certified palm oil?

Investigations into certified palm oil have unearthed that certified palm oil distributors, still use non-certified palm oil, and sell their product as certified when in fact it’s not. Another problem is that as long as the demand for palm oil remains so high, including the use of certified palm oil, it will not solve the problem as companies will always look for ways to cut on spending and the problems with palm oil will persist, the reason why palm oil is so popular in the first place is because it is cheap. The other issue with this is that certified palm oil simply means that they will use land that has already been cleared, rather than clearing more forests for plantations, and as long as the demand for palm oil remains high, it will mean that these vast plantations will never have the potential of being re-forested.
